My Favorite Bands Part 1: Paramore
Just like what I've wrote about last time, I listen to music this past quarantine. And then this quarantine, I started to like another band. And that is Paramore.
Composed of Hayley Williams, Taylor York, and Zac Farro, Paramore was formed in 2004 at as of now released 4 albums: All We Know Is Falling (2005), Riot! (2007), Brand New Eyes (2009), Paramore (2013), at After Laughter (2017). (I saw this on Wiki)
I know the tone and melody of some of their songs but I don't know the title and lyrics like "Decode" and "I Caught Myself" and I always hear that on our radio before. Let's say that the chorus of "That's What You Get" is the only line from their song that I know. But, the first Paramore song that I know is "Monster", a song that is released in 2011 and used in Transformers: Dark of The Moon. Well I've watch the music video of that song in Studio 23 before (that channel used to have Myx shows in the morning).
But let's get into this quarantine. I listen first in Youtube "All That You Are" of Goo Goo Dolls (well, my mom like that band) that is also included in Transformers: Dark of The Moon soundtrack. So i searched the whole soundtrack and then I saw "Monster". And then it all started. Before, I have no interest in Paramore, but now I have. I now listen to the songs that I didn't know the title and the lyrics before like "Misery Business", "Ignorance", "Decode", "I Caught Myself", "Brick By Boring Brick" and "crushcrushcrush". Their songs are beautiful (just like Hayley Williams) and as a teenager, I can relate to their songs. And also based on their LiveJournal account, their songs have some personal touch. Just read why Hayley wrote their first hit "Misery Business" at https://paramoreband.livejournal.com/31376.html that has some religious touch (but since 2018, they dont sang it anymore on tours because of its second verse that is anti-feminist). And based also on their LiveJournal account, they are Christians and it is important to them to have a faith in God.
My 5 (or more) Personal Favorite Songs of Paramore (in no particular order):
1. "Ignorance": I love the lyrics and I think in this song, I see my past self who is somewhat "ignored" and has some difficulties adjusting with friends.
2. "Last Hope": I love the song. It's uplifting. This is the song we need in this time.
3. "Hate To See You're Heartbreak": I think this is the meaning of a simple tap on a back that could strenghten us.
4. "Missery Business": even if they didn't sing this song in tours, I like it and this is their first hit song. Even if it is rock, it is pleasant to the ears (just like their other songs). And because of this song, I like to play ice hockey (because it is in the NHL 08 sountrack) and play Guitar Hero.
5-7:
"Still Into You": I remember all my crushes in school and my happy memories with them (ayieee)
"Monster"; When I listen to this song, I feel that I could beat the "monsters" in my mind. And also I could beat Megatron or 1,000,000 zombies when I listen to this song.
"Hard Times": This could be the anthem of my G7-G8 self and I can dance to the beat of this song.
Thats all. The songs of Paramore are beautiful and I could relate so I will love it from now on. And also, I wish I could come to their concert because based on what I see in YouTube, it is a great experience.
(P.s: They will be returning to punk rock in next album. This is based from https://www.nme.com/news/music/hayley-williams-says-paramore-will-return-to-pop-punk-on-next-album-2666039)
Next I will be having a blog about..... Coldplay. Happy reading.
